.. blonde, with blue eyes. They ..
This example illustrates 4 of 7 total search hits. Your results may differ somewhat in later revisions of the memoir.
The first line
begins with the match number, which may be used as a reference for a particular search. The rest of the first line give the title of the page within the Memoir that contains the hit. You may click on the title to see the article. The
second line contains the search term in bold, and a few words before and after it: the context of this search hit.
About Search Terms
By default the search ignores letter cases, so searching for “red” will locate red and Red -- and possibly other variations. Checking the Match Case box will result in more selectivity, e.g., searching for “red” will match only red.
Spaces can be important. An entry of
“red” will locate all occurences of these three letters, even those within a word, e.g. prepared. If you want to locate the color red, use a space before and after the word in the search box.
In a few cases, you may have difficulty finding two words in the memoir separated by what appears to be a single space. Try using an extra space or two.
Unlike most more sophisticated search methods, using quotation marks in the search box has no special meaning. The search tries to locate exactly what you entered, quotes and all.
Notes
•
The entire, current content of the Memoir is searched at the time you press Go. If the web site or the computer on which it is hosted is particularly busy, this may take some time. The page will not be updated until the search is complete. Please be patient.
• After you see the text "Search concluded..." at the bottom of the page, you may go to a completely different page, or enter new text in the Search Box. If you reload the current page, your last search will simply be repeated.
• The entire text of the pages, including headings and notes, will be searched.
•
At the moment, there's no option to set the maximum number of hits. It is set internally to 100. (Example: Searching for a common word such as the will only return fewer 100 matches.) This should be more than enough for most purposes.
• For more complex searches, you may choose to use Google, adding
site:www.vysokoye.org
to your search parameters to limit the search to this website, and also specifying
"Dorothy Kraus"
in
your search parameters to direct Google to material that includes this specific text.
Keep in mind that while the search is much more sophisticated, the Google results may not be as up-to-date as this search provides.
