Those activities continued during our entire stay in Liverpool while [we were] awaiting the ship that was to take us to [Montreal] through the St. Lawrence Canal. In order not to spoil our pleasure and enthusiasm during our last day, Mother avoided informing us that our stay in Liverpool would end the following morning.
[original page 42] The lady who was in charge of [the] house in which we had stayed was extremely courteous and helpful. She had told Mother the necessary information about the ship and had arranged transportation to the Port for us… Our Mother thanked her heartily. No doubt that house was a Travelers Aid Society project, and the lady was a volunteer. Those volunteers deserve heavenly rewards for their many kindnesses…
