As described above, in later life, Dorothy and Henry Kraus returned to live in Paris. They co-authored a book on medieval art.
Sometime between 1993 and 2001, Dorothy became friends with author Virginia Heiserman Solotaroff. Kraus communicated her concern to Solotaroff that the manuscript of My Mother Was The Most Beautiful be preserved and possibly published. Solotaroff accepted the document and brought it to New York, where she gave it to her daughter-in-law, Maura Spiegel, a professor of American literature at Columbia University. Spiegel arranged for the manuscript to be donated to YIVO, where it is currently maintained in RG116, Poland 1, Folder 19.1.
