Dear Judel: The picture came out very bad. I'm ashamed to send it to you, it's so ugly. And it cost me three rubles, which were wasted. It might be guessed that photography had not yet attained the popularity and availability in Wysokie that it attained later, during the interwar period. We may infer that the inscription is from Dorothy's mother, Raize (Raizel) in Wysokie to her husband, Judel, who was at the time in America.
