Wysokie Litewskie
Dorothy gives us a basic description of her home village, Wysoke Litewskie. Divided into Polish and Jewish sections, the Jewish section consisting of several unpaved streets, where Jews lived their lives.

In Dorothy's eyes the Jewish women were the doers of the community, while men studied.

Dorothy describes the joys of the Jewish Sabbath in Wysokie.

Contact between Jews and Gentiles in Wysokie Litewskie, Dorothy describes as strictly limited to necessities. Nonetheless, Dorothy was aware of the Poles and their church in the town.
